As part of the multicultural showcase, Magic Eastern Ensemble will be featured at the 5th edition of Around the World in the DTL. Over both days, we’ll invite the public to get up close with our instruments and explore the unique sound of the pentatonic scale. Come join us for this interactive experience!

Magic Eastern Ensemble is a nonprofit arts group based in Atlanta, founded and directed by young musician Yao Lu. The ensemble introduces audiences to the beauty of traditional instruments such as the guzheng, dizi, and zhongruan, while also exploring creative collaborations with modern sounds like MIDI and cross-genre music.

They have performed at major Atlanta festivals including the Dogwood Festival, Duluth Fall Festival, and Atlanta International Night Market, and have been featured on WABE Radio, WXIA-TV (11Alive), and WATL. Yao Lu has also served as a judge for the Charleston International Music Competition and the IYMC International Music Competition.

In recent years, Magic Eastern Ensemble has become a regular part of the Night Market cultural showcase, offering close-up demonstrations of music and related arts. Visitors are invited to experience the instruments directly, even trying out simple melodies themselves, creating an interactive and memorable cultural exchange.
